PD Bites exists because professional development for Australia’s care and community services workforce is too often one of two things: a compliance box-tick nobody remembers a week later, or a whole day away from a roster that’s already stretched thin.
What we’re trying to do
We build short, practical, Australian-context CPD for the people doing the direct work, Aged Care, Disability, Mental Health and Community Services support workers and volunteers, and for the VET trainers and assessors who train and assess them. Each module is meant to be finished in the time between shifts, and to leave you with something you’ll actually use on the floor, not just a certificate in a drawer.
That means tuning the learning rather than simply delivering it. We give you the tools to understand the concept, why the rule exists, where it gets misread, and what it looks like in a real moment on a real shift, so you can apply it to the situation in front of you instead of the one in the example. Understanding transfers. A ticked box does not.
How we work
Australian context, always
Written against Australian legislation, standards and terminology, not adapted from a US or UK course.
No inflated claims
We only say a module is “aligned to” a standard or framework when that’s actually true, and we’re upfront that we’re not an RTO.
What you see is what exists
Every module listed is written, checked and live. We do not advertise a catalogue larger than the one that actually exists.
Who writes this
PD Bites is written by people who have worked in both halves of this sector, on the floor delivering support, and in the training room building the workforce that follows.
That matters more than it sounds. A lot of compliance training is written by people who have read the legislation but have never had to apply it with a person in front of them, already running behind, no supervisor to call, and a decision that has to be made now. We have. So the modules answer the questions workers actually ask, what do I do right now, and what am I actually allowed to do , as well as the question the regulator asks.
The trainer and assessor modules come from the same place. We have contributed to effective training and assessment strategies, sat in validation sessions, and had to evidence currency for a scope of registration. We understand compliance and we understand content, and we know how good professional development actually builds skill and competence rather than just filling a record. We also know which parts of the Standards get misread, because we have misread them ourselves and then had to work out what the wording actually required. Those are the gaps these modules are built to close.
How we verify what we publish
Every module is written from primary sources, the legislation, the regulator, the responsible department, not from other people’s courses. Where we quote a requirement, we quote it, and we link the instrument so you can check it yourself.

Content is built from legislation and regulator guidance, with the source linked on every module page. If we state a legal requirement, you can click through and read it in the original.
Versioned and reviewed
Every module carries a version number, a publication date and a scheduled review date. Modules covering figures that are indexed annually are reviewed more often, and we say so on the page.
We say what we don’t cover
Where a topic needs expertise we don’t have, or varies by state and territory, we say so in the module rather than writing a thin version and hoping nobody notices.
Refund if it misses the mark
If a module does not give you what you needed, email us within 15 days and we will refund it. We ask two things: tell us what missed, so we can fix it, and we limit this to one refund per person. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law sit on top of this and are not affected. We would rather lose the sale than have you tell a colleague it wasn’t worth it.
Three modules are completely free, with no account and no email address required. Read one before you spend anything. Paid modules sit behind a free account so your progress and certificates are kept for you. That is the fastest way to judge whether the rest is worth your money.
